    The principles of care for a cancer patient would include a large complicated treatment plan. The patient will need a team to help implement treatment and a recovery plan. This team would consist of the Oncologist, Nurse, Social Worker, Dietician, Family, Pathologist, Hospice and Palliative Care will also be apart of the team, It is very important that the patient is given the proper treatment an education about their disease process to help them choose the right treatment for them. It’s very imperative for the team to communicate the information to the patient in a way that they can understand it.

     

    Safe and effective nursing care for a patient experiencing fluid and electrolyte imbalances may include maintaining fluid volume at a functional level, normal lab values, skin turgor an IV sites to prevent infection and infiltration, an giving medication as prescribed by the doctor.

     

    Safe strategies for effective nursing care for a client with acid-base imbalances would include maintaining proper airway, given medications or fluids to correct the problem and to implement safety measures to the client to prevent falls and bruising. Monitor vitals signs and ABG’s.

     

    Appropriate nursing interventions for a patient with gastritis would include avoiding alcohol, NSAIDs, aspirin unless directed , foods that may irritates the lining of the stomach , no smoking and find ways to relax and reduce stress.

     

    Appropriate nursing interventions for a patient with Crohn’s disease would be to maintain a healthy diet, quit smoking, exercise regularly, avoid alcohol, caffeine, spicy foods, reduce dairy products, stress levels and visit a dietician often to help with better food choices and keep a food journal.

     

    Evaluation for nursing interventions for a client with an endocrine disorder such as Diabetes would be to keep blood glucose levels within a normal range, have their A1C levels drawn every three months, teach them how to obtain a blood glucose and to draw up their insulin and ask the patient questions to make sure they understand the teaching. The proper way to store and take oral medications. The signs and symptoms of hyper and hypo glycemia.
