Relation between Evidence Based Practice and the Quadruple Aim.

Evidence-based services are designed to improve both the outcome of the patient and the treatment processes. Evidence-based services also aim to improve the safety and reliability of health care. It has to be continued and embraced by both nurses and health care providers in order for evidence-based services to be effective. Assignment: Quadruple Aim in Evidence-Based Practice

or the implementation of providers based on evidence, federal, local and state policies are important. Evidence indicates that nurses have a good outlook about services based on facts and are willing to learn the awareness and expertise needed to implement EBP.

The quadruple target mainly involves four main goals that include enhancing the wellbeing of an individual, increasing population health, working life of health care providers, and rising health care costs. The key quadruple goal is to reshape the healthcare facilities. One of the main problems confronting the healthcare system is enhancing people’s health while still rising healthcare costs (Crabtree, et al., 2016). Which requires a high level of quality as well as performance to be efficient. The workers must be efficient in order to have a successful healthcare system. Recently converting from triple target to quadruple goal, the fourth objective was introduced, which increases healthcare providers ‘ working life.

The impact that EBP may have on factors influencing these quadruple aim elements.

The introduction of Evidence-based medicine is intended to improve the quality of service offered and the high value of patient care. The cycle has an effect on the work life of health care workers. High quality service is directly related to workplace profitability. Every health care facility’s main aim is to improve the lives of the people they represent.

  1. Patient experience

It means, in turn, enhancing the quality of the services provided to patients. Many healthcare facilities have significantly increased the quality of treatment and reduced patient care failures.

  1. Population health

The aim is to provide the public with knowledge on the determinants of one’s own medical condition, drawbacks and advantages of particular procedures and activities. The integrator is responsible for ensuring that services are spread in society. In addition, integrators determine how services will be allocated to others. It is necessary to divide or differentiate the population on the basis of the degree of assistance that one receives from the family, health services status, social and economic status that will make for an effective and fair distribution or redistribution of resources (Crabtree, et al., 2016). The availability of high-quality health care information on the internet will enable people to understand the various options of treatment. The health care process today has been designed to respond to the acute needs of patients rather than shaping the pattern of healthcare for vital subgroups.

  • Costs

One of the big challenges that are facing health facilities is the measure of per capita costs since it requires the capturing of all expenditures, measuring the actual cost as well as indexing them to the local market. The method used for measuring actual cost is pricing and discount. It can be challenging for health facilities to provide high-quality medical services at a lower cost. Quality of healthcare increases when a healthcare facility uses the latest technology and the latest method of treatment.

  1. The work life of healthcare providers

The main components of a healthy and good working environment are important to support inter-professional healthcare. Inter-professional collaboration or relationship has a positive influence on a healthy work environment, (Crabtree, et al., 2016). The three main components of a healthy working environment are the physical, structural policy components. Workforce engagement at providing the experience of joy as well as a healthy working environment.

Assignment: Evidence-Based Practice and the Quadruple Aim

Healthcare organizations continually seek to optimize healthcare performance. For years, this approach was a three-pronged one known as the Triple Aim, with efforts focused on improved population health, enhanced patient experience, and lower healthcare costs.

More recently, this approach has evolved to a Quadruple Aim by including a focus on improving the work life of healthcare providers. Each of these measures are impacted by decisions made at the organizational level, and organizations have increasingly turned to EBP to inform and justify these decisions.

To Prepare for Assignment: Quadruple Aim in Evidence-Based Practice:

  • Read the articles by Sikka, Morath, & Leape (2015); Crabtree, Brennan, Davis, & Coyle (2016); and Kim et al. (2016) provided in the Resources.
  • Reflect on how EBP might impact (or not impact) the Quadruple Aim in healthcare.
  • Consider the impact that EBP may have on factors impacting these quadruple aim elements, such as preventable medical errors or healthcare delivery.
